Well, thought it was about time to intro myself....Have been peeking on this site for a cupla weeks and think its a hoot. Luv it!! Lets see where to start. Am 59 and remarried. My 1st wife died about a 1 1/2 yrs ago and my new wife's hubby died about 3 yrs ago. Met her in Arvada, just out of Denver. She had a brainfart and decided she couldn't live without me so we got married. We moved to Lecanto, FL., back in March. Lecanto is about 90 mins from Orlando, 60 mins north of Tampa, 30 mins from Ocala, and 15 mins from Gulf of Mexico. Just sold her house in Arvada, and in process of selling my house near Jacksonville, Fl. We are both retired...her from Co State and me from Navy in '88 and again took an early retirement from major hospital lab in Feb '03 when my wife needed full time help. We are both avid animal lovers(altho I love to fish and deer hunt..go figger) plus have a house full of rescued cats. I have had a pinch of pretty much every animal type..from fish to hookbills to reptiles ad infinitum. Love gardening..especially love begonias canes and angel wings and some of the Rex types. Also like amaryllis and lilies and iris as well as a whole bunch of others you know the usual plant junky. Am currently getting ready to build a 12x24 green house and putting in a 2000 gal pond. I keep finding out that I have definitely forgotten more than I ever knew and for sure have too many pots on the stove..buy hey...am retired and my time is open..LOL. Well, enuff of this novellette.....JIM
Self Introduction
Welcome to DG Jim. I'm glad to see that you've explored the site already. It's a great place and everyone is so very helpful.
Beautiful cat. What's her name? I also love cats, and at one point we had 6 adopted cats living with us. Since they are inside/outside cats, 3 have since disappeared. They just never came home again. We do have 3 left though, and so far no more have decided to move in.
Glad to see a man here. Not to many of us around. Welcome & post often. Will be looking forward to your expertise. Keep us posted on the greenhouse.

The cats name is "Aunt Molly". If one would anthropomorphize(humanize) her...she would be your typical old maid aunt....in everyones business but complains when you mess with hers. She really is a sweetie...she was apparently dumped by someone...she was skinny as a rail and eating birdseed under our bird feeder when we nabbed her. Best thing we ever did...a real treasure. She loves to sleep by the fire place when its going and keeps everyone else in line. I could go on and on haha
Glad to meet you Bernie

I look forward to seing you around the garden.
We have a dog, rescued street dog, and 2 peach faced lovebirds....
Hey, Jim - Welcome to DG!
Maybe the birdseed that old maid kitty was noshing had a little eau de bird left over and in her mind she was eating the real thing. ;) Looks like she found a good home with you!
Welcome to DG Jim! I'm sure Aunt Molly agrees that you're taking her in was a wonderful thing :-). She sure is a lucky cat to have you!

Pebble........I used to raise all of the different love bird species. They sure can be noisy. I had 2 that were handfed from almost day 1. Both of them learned to talk pretty well. Had a 20 or so word vocabulary. But talking ability was definitely not on par with the bigger birds. But every bit as clear as those lil birds can be.
JIM
Good to meet you, Jim. We have one dog and several cats here; four upstairs, and four downstairs. All the upstairs cats hate the downstairs cats, and vice versa. They are very careful not to cross their county line (the bottom of the stairs) - unless they're looking for trouble. The dog is smart enough to stay out of their way.

HI Jim....I lived in Homosassa Springs for about 7 years...I sure do miss the good seafood at Charlie's in Crystal River...and the hamburgers at Dan's Clam Stand!! Does Cowboy Junction still have the flea market?
This is a great place to make new friends. If I come to visit my Sis in law this winter I'll give you a holler! Jo
Edited to say....the first time I heard the word "brainfart" was from my Son in law who was also in the Navy...now retired and living in dry AZ. J

Hi Jim,
Welcome to DG. Say "Hi" to the cat too. I love cats but have been catless since the last one died a bit more than a year ago. Hubby is not so fond of them. :-(

Hi Jim from another newbie in North Carolina. My son lives in Hudson near Tampa and I will be visiting him for the first time in December. Neither he nor his wife garden, but they have about 6 cats. ;^)
Hi Jim and welcome!
I orignally came from Florida, Bradenton/Venice area and am now living in Upstate NY. I love animals just like you. We have 4 cats, bunnies, birds, fish and a guinea pig. Welcome to DG, I am new here also, lots of wonderful people. I met them through my brother, Horseshoe. You just might hear a few stories about him, great guy!
