red leaf hibiscus aka hib. acetosella

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I grew this spring from seeds and though it took a while, my plants are about 5' and multiple buds are about to open. Will they come back in my area or will I have to grow from seeds again?

I have that in the ground on the south side of my house..I covered the base of it with leaf mulch when it died back down...

and it has come back for you, no problem?

no problemo..I'll take a pic of mine this evening....I just put down organic humus on part of the bed along with cardboard cuz I am making the bed bigger..

They survived the freeze here, didn't even die all the way back. I had to cut mine back some yesterday, they're 8ft tall and wide, they're smothering out everything around them.

cala, I wanted to cut mine to make them bushier, but I was wondering if I would impair blooming.
