Hi all, Brug-newbie here...
Need a taddy bit of help, please. I will be mailing my first cutting. What is the best way to do it, rooted or unrooted? Does it need to be a certain size before I cut it? Can I cut one of the "suckers" and will that make a nice new plant? I appreciate any guidance I can get because I want it to be a success for my new friend! :~D

How to ship a cutting?
Yes to all of the above. I try to send cuttings that are NOT green. Usually thumb size around or bigger. It helps if the cutting has little white lenticils showing through the skin on it as those will grow and form roots with time. You can send them rooted or not. When I cut them, I put damp paper towels around the cut end and up about three inches and either wrap that in a piece of plastic wrap or foil. Label the cutting and put it in a Priority box with packing and away it goes. Have fun.
Ah, Brugie, that's not so hard. I was probably going to cut it too soon though, I will wait for the stem to mature first. I will root it for her if she prefers. Thank you for all the great info! It was just what I needed! Have a lovely day!

Karen, just want to add this to what Shirley said. In hot or very cold weather, I try to pack mine in styrofoam peanuts, not only to keep it from moving around and getting broken up, but also for insulation. Another way that works well for me is, after taking care of the cut end as Shirley does, roll the whole cutting up loosely in about two layers of newspaper. The newspaper is stiff enough to fit tightly enough into many types of boxes to keep the plant from rolling around. Sometimes I have actually taped cutting to the box itself.
The Post Office will supply you with free priority shipping boxes and labels. You can get them from you local PO or order them delivered to you free (even the postage is free) on the internet.
