Hello,
I love this website and I just subscribed today. I've lived in the beautiful Adams Hill neighborhood of Glendale, for over sixteen years, just downhill from Forest Lawn. Our yard is on a hillside, so there aren't many areas that get allday sun. At least half of the yard is clay. I'm in the process of restoring/renovating our yard after my own bout of neglect compounded by the heavy rains. After our darling pet kitty passed away in late May, I planted a Hibiscus "Lipstick" as the center of her memorial (she's three feet below it). It was doing great until about a week ago. Now there's a lot of yellow leaves, and no blooms recently. I don't know if it's the recent intense heatwave, or spider mites. There's no sign of whiteflies, although our neighbors 10 foot tall classic hibiscus that flows into our yard is heavily infested with whire flies, fuzz, etc. I'm going to buy a "bug blaster" online. Has anybody tried a product called "Jungle Rain'? I have a few Angel Trumpet plants in various parts of the yard (planted five years ago). They always look awful! Shabby leaves and not many flowers. I recently bought a Canna at Home Depot called "A-Go-Go", yellow with red freckles...WOW! I hope it likes our yard. Is anyone else here from Adams Hill? We seem to have our own micro-climate, and I'd love to exchange success/failure experiences.
Hello from Adams Hill, Glendale, CA
Welcome to Daves Garden! I haven't tried Jungle Rain, but try posting your question on the Garden Products forum. Maybe someone can help you there. There's also a California Gardening forum to check out. Enjoy!

Welcome, EmeraldGreen,
Sorry, I can't help you with your pest problem, I'm sure somebody can help you in CA gardening or the Pests forum.
You live in a very pretty part of LA. We lived in Pasadena (near the Huntington Gardens) for 20 years before moving to OH a year and a half ago. Loved California gardening, but I am learning a lot of new ways to garden here from my DG friends. Hope you enjoy the site, too.
Happy gardening. t.
Yea, another Californian here! I know exactly where you are, drive by you on our way up to Santa Barbara! Welcome, this is such a wonderful site, you'll really enjoy it.
I know it says I live in Chino, but I really live in Rancho Cucamonga, my iris business is in Chino.
Again, welcome.
