It's tiny, but a total surprise to me. I don't recall the name of this "aquarium" plant and in an aquarium setting I have never seen it bloom.
When I set my pond up a few months ago, the pond store was closed and I wanted some water plants, so I went to the fish store. I bought several aquarium plants and tossed them in the pond.
Today I see this tiny flower popping its head up out of the water and upon closer inspection I see it's sprouted from that plant on my hand.
I just love surprises like this!

It Blooms!
Parrot's feather? Pretty little bloom.
Kimberley,
Nope, not the parrots feather which will grow under and above water.
I just googled and found it to be hornwort. Normally the hornwort grows underwater in aquariums, but here in the pond, it shot the bloom above water.

I was looking at the leaves in the background, not at what you had in your hand. Oops! I have artificial hornwort in my aquarium...Now I know what it's supposed to be. LOL I'd like to get some real. My anachris is doing GREAT in there, even with just the one 48" aquarium plant light.
Kimberley,
You are making me use my brain and research today. I didn't know what anachris was and when I looked it up, I was like "Oh Yeah!!" I have some of that too.
It was written that anachris is one of the best oxygenators for tanks and ponds. I had some in my 25 gallon at the old house and it grows so fast, I was harvesting it and putting it in the pond. Some of the goldfish liked to eat it too.
Since my pond is stillwater only, anachris is a great plant to have in there, not just for oxygentating, but it also helps to break down fish waste and keeps the pond clearer.
Thanks for tweaking my brain Kimberley. I need that once in a while.
