I'm still looking for some of this...I love big plants! I have the perfect place for it should I ever get one...someday...Great photo!
Spectacular plant !
Can't bring it here? Please? Or won't it grow here.
Pretty lady...will I see her in the fall?
Hap
To Queen B: The plant is rated from USDA zones 4a to 9. Maybe you could get it through one of DG's suppliers. That picture was taken July 20/05 and the leaves have grown a bit more since then.
To Happy1: I'm afraid winters are not cold enough for that one down there in Fort Lauderdale. Living in a zone 5 right now and specializing in perennials, I never thought I would write something like that. Usually, we end up coveting a zone 11 to 6 specimen, or something along those lines.
Like I was saying above, rated zone 4a to 9. I really enjoy them and I'll miss them when we move to Lauderhill. Just wait until I get my grubby paws on some of those giant gunneras: WooHoo!
The lady in the picture is one of our friends: Dolores. She will be spending the winter in Florida, returning in April. She's a sweetheart and I could arrange for you to meet her if you'd like. Everyone loves Dolores.
Take care.
SYLVAIN.
How many days is it????? are you counting?????
As far as the gunnera, it may be TOO hot for them here. I would like to try one, just haven't bit the bullet, as they say, as yet. Maybe we could try together...
Hap
We can't count the days because we don't have a set agenda. Once the house goes on the market and sells, we'll liquidate everything and we'll be off; the sooner the better. Let's just say we'd like to be gone from here before the snow starts. Events will dictate the agenda.
Too hot for gunnera? Bummer! What about one of them Borneo giant elephant ears that I could grow by the irrigation canal? As you can see, I'm already researching what I'll put in that bed. I had an elephant ear growing by the pond 2 years ago and it did great (puny by Florida standards), even if the season is only 3 months of really nice sun and warmth.
We'll see when I get there.
SYLVAIN.
That's what I have read. Maybe not. Let's try when you come donw......
I live in the right climate and have the perfect place to grow this gorgeous thing! Can anyone help me find where to buy? Thank you. Teddy Parkinson 16 Jan 2012
HI,
Look in the plant files for the plant. Under the info, there is usually a note saying "x' number of plants for sale. If not, look under Product and Sources up on the top.
Good luck.
Hap
