Good luck, mine grow very slowly in pots.

They definately slow growers but really worth the wait, I plant mine in the ground when they get a little bigger. Josephine.

I would plant mine out but I dont think they would like the wet winters that we get here. Do you think its possible to flower them in a large pot, maybe?
Mine are forming a pretty large tuberous root.

Right you are about the large root, when I first got mine I had it in too shady a place, so I went to transplant it, and I could not beleive the size of the root, it is amazing.
I do think that it would be fine in a large pot. Has yours bloomed yet?

No flowers yet, I've been growing two of them for three years now under glass and they die down in winter, which I presume is normal but then they take a long time to start up again in spring. I only really get 3 months of growth at best each year.

Fortunately, the first thing they do when they are of blooming age is, bloom first, foliage later, so even if your season is short, should get flowers some time.

Just had a look through the plant files and eventually came to your website. there's a lot of interesting plants there I'd like to try. Tried bluebonnet years ago, as it was sold over here as a spring sown annual, total disaster, must try sowing in the autumn (fall)
Yes I'll keep on with the Erythrina, might try one outside and protect it from the rain in winter, Have flowered Erythrina Crista Galli in a pot so might stand a chance.LOL

I have them growing wild here, and they do prefer a sunny spot, and not too much moisture. The one I have in my yard is planted near a tree, and it just so happened that I planted it in a moist area, but it doesn't get too much water and it's just LEAFY! I don't think it's mature enough to bloom yet, though, because I haven't had it do so.

Believe it or not, thats 3 yrs old, I bet its got to get a lot bigger if its gonna flower.
What do you think?

You are right Pete, but may be you need a deeper pot, the root should be all below ground, otherwise the plant looks very nice.

Yeah I thought the root should all be below ground, but I was worried about neck rot in our damp climate so I exposed the top half. I was thinking of potting it on, into a larger pot of really gritty soil, what do you think?

Sounds like a great idea. I hope it helps.
