Hi, I live in London UK and have been tempted once more into buying a papyrus plant (Cyperus papyrus). Although thankfully still a long way off, I've always found them difficult to overwinter even in a cool greenhouse in my climate. Does anyone have any tips they can share. Matt
overwintering papyrus
Do you have a well lit area inside? If so, try potting them up and keeping them really moist (wet) as a houseplant for the winter. I've not tried it but know others who have.
I've wintered C. alternifolius indoors for years in a tub of water in a south window.
It may get a bit ratty looking by Spring but after dividing it picks up dramatically in a few weeks outdoors.

Hello Matt.
I've overwintered several types of papyrus indoors for many years, including C. papyrus. I have excellent luck keeping them in a bright window in a pan or bowl of water (don't let them dry out). Keep an eye out for spider mites. A good showering every couple weeks might be a good idea as well. Good luck to you.

Thanks all,
I'll try it indoors this year in a sunny window. Sounds like the temperature I've been keeping them at might have been too low from your experiences.
