Daylily seedling

flowering for the first time. Almost Black X Lady Neva. Started last year, I think they all came back this year.

Nothing spectaular, but kinda pretty.

I think it is beautiful! I think I saw a few buds on a couple of seedlings that I had started last year to.
:) Donna

Thanks Donna. Now I'm going to show you some real daylilies that I took pics of at the Morden Research Centre. These were in the front part of the park. Not a lot left there, but some of these were nice.

Label was broken on this one. _arlin_, so may never know what it is. Assuming 'Darling' something.

I may have found the identity of this one. Until I find proof otherwise, I think it is 'Starling'.

_Champagne. Haven't found the whole name yet.

Possibilities - 'Green Champagne', (just going from brief description chartreuse?), or maybe 'Yellow Champagne'.

Well, says she grudgingly, maybe it would be nice to have a few.
Inanda

Eenie Fanfare. This one sure doesn't look like mine. Always wanted to see the real thing to compare.

Forgot to write the name down for this one. The last few were in a different area.

Marcus Perry. If this really is the right hem, I don't know why anyone would even bother naming it. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

An odd looking species, H. mollerii, looks like it never opens all the way.

edited to add, so far can't find any info on this one. Maybe I don't have it spelled right.

Lovely pics echoes! Ü My choices would be 'Scotland' and 'Toyland'. I too have an 'Eenie Fanfare' that doesn't look like the above. I think I'm going to stick to ordering from known suppliers whose plants come true to name AND picture. ;) The local stores and nurseries just can't get a good supplier for daylilies.

Pam, might you have aquired your 'Eenie Fanfare' from T and T also? So far this year I've gotten three daylilies for sure that weren't what they were supposed to be. 'Mystery Black' (syn. Night Embers) from Guru Garden, doesn't even come close to description or pictures, 'Elegant Candy' from Lilies in the Valley, with no eye zone, and slightly washed out colour, and just a mistaken identity one from Botanus, but from what everyone else is saying about 'Darkest of All', it probably would have been off anyway. A few haven't bloomed yet, so more surprises to come.

I am going to do the group thing next year if I get anymore, and order from a hybridizer or at least a place where they get from the hybridizer. The local nurseries around here are pretty much as bad. If they only got their act together, they would get all of our business.

Hi Echoes,

Gorgeous pictures. Makes me want to get into day lilies. ;-)

I picked 'Eenie Fanfare' up at the same greenhouse I got my first Brugs at Brenda. I know they ordered their daylilies from different suppliers than the other local greenhouses but I don't know who supplied them. Some were accurate but others weren't. I've only ordered water lilies and other tropicals from across Canada but not daylilies, lilies or irises. Since you and I have had similiar results I've also decided to order daylilies, etc., straight from the hybridizer from now on.

ViolaAnn, there are some nice ones for sure. Nice to have the daylilies fill in for colour when the lilies are finished. They are not difficult to grow, but be careful, I hear they can also be addictive.

Have posted a few pictures of the next two of my seedlings that bloomed, over in the Daylilies forum. Shawn where are you? Here is a link to the thread.
