pretty, but what is it?

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

I planted this 2 years ago, but lost the tag! I seem to remember that there was a question about whether it would be hardy, but it does come back - and seems to seed, as it pops up in odd places-- the leaves are succulent, and the root a funny upright oblong tuber sort of thing...the flowers are new every day, and don't open until 4pm! anybody know what it is?? it loves the sunny gravel that it grows in, hardly any dirt.

Gee, Sarah. That's pretty. It's got Calandrinia flowers and Ruschia foliage. I don't know what it could be. Maybe one of the Ruschias has that shape bloom, but the ones I know don't.

sarah--that IS really pretty. I will try to do some research on it if no one recognizes it. It would be a great one for everyone to have in their rockery. Thanks for posting. t.

Are those flowers coming up from what looks like ice plant?

Keene, NH(Zone 5a)

hi bwb!!--well, the leaves are narrower than iceplant- it was something (since i did read the label once upon a time..) that i hadn't heard of. but what the heck was it???? s.

Sarah, have you posted this in the Identification Forum? Baa, Kennedy, Todd, Htop, Crystalspin, and other habitues of that forum usually can identify anything, and if they don't know what it is, they'll do research until they find it.

It has me stumped! I'd go along with Calandrinia but after a thorough search I could not find any that matched. As was suggested, post it on the ID forum.
