in extreme drought condition and everyone's crying for rain which we basically haven't seen for almost 3 months.
Then look what's rolling through now. I really dread going home because I think all the brugs are going to be leveled.
becareful what you ask for...
Best of luck, Blaine. Hope everything will be okay.
These summer storms can be scary. We had a bad one last night with lots of lightning.
I have no clue how to read that map Blaine but I sure will keep good thoughts for you. I just got off the phone with Susie and Emily leveled a big banana tree in her yard. So sad such destruction. She was lucky too! Please keep us updated.
Hopefully your brugs are ok, Blaine.....
The storm was quite intense around here with much needed rain but the winds were not too strong. Only my Princess Tree was overturned and that was probably cuz she is in need of a bigger pot.....
Kell, is Susie in the path of Emily? I hope that the banana tree is the only casualty.....
kell - that was a radar shot from wunderground.
The dark line right through the middle is the state line. WI on top, IL on bottom.
The big blue part on the right is Lake Michigan.
I live right on the state line about 4 miles from the lake.
So if you follow that stateline from left to right you'll see it's centered under the red area right at the lake. The red is the most severe part of the storm line that was rolling through.
There was a lot of wind here at work, 13 miles away. I called home and the DD said there was a lot of rain but not too much wind and she didn't see any damage, so maybe we lucked out.
sstateham and scooterbug probably caught this storm as well.
yet it's nothing compared to what those folks down on the coast are going through with the hurricanes and such.
Hey 8ft, grab hold of of your boot straps!! This could be quite a ride,I
it is 107 degrees here with hottest old wind, but hopefully Emily comes in shore and sends us some monsoon rains, and cooler temps.
Best of luck when you get home.....hope it was mostly wet and little bluster.
I lived directly to the left of the "A" in Arlington Heights for many years and remember those summer storms only too well. Bright blue skies one minute and then black/green skies, monster winds, buckets of water, sometimes golf ball hail........then back to blue skies within a few minutes. Scary!
We kept our boat in Racine for a number of years so would drive up into Wisconsin a lot....it's a beautiful state.
Lizzie- with those temps, your Snow White tomatoes may still be burnt red. It's nice to have you back online. {{{hugs}}}
Happenstance - thats sure true. I'm hoping I get home before dark to check things out. I had my first brug from seed bloom last night and I'll be ripped if they got blown away. It's an Aurea pink x Golden Lady from ReneeO that I started 29Jan. She looked and smelled like a single GL last night.
Oh my! I sure hope you get the rain you need, but hope it isnt terrible to come home to! Will keep you in my thoughts!
thanks Blaine for the explanation. I will be praying for you! All your hard work, I sure hope it is not bad and everyone keeps safe.
Yes Eva, directly in the path but she came thru OK. It was a hard night. She may get kicked out of Texas though, along with her arrival there she has brought the first freeze in 100 years and the first hurricane as a direct hit in 100 years.
whewww!
Got a fast fat dose of H2O but no cannas, brugs, sunflowers or even the dahlias which are starting to open were damaged. Some phlox and a few canes of the 6' Autumn Sun Rudbeckia flopped over but neither get full sun and aren't as strong as they should be.
Glad to hear everything is ok!
