HAve: Small pregnant onions offset bulbs..

Issaquah, WA

My pregnant onions mommas have been turning out babies like no ones business ... This is a decorative onion ..( if its related to onions at all) not for eating ... but makes a BIG bulb that grows above the soil ... the babies push through the skin on the mother bulb ... you will have tons and tons when its growing happily ... This is also tropical and must be brought indoors for winter in colder zones ..

Looking for aroids ...
interesting calla lily forms ..
Arums .
Amrophophallus ...

Or just anything weird and exciting

I have 2 of these which are also loaded with babies. Do they have to be rooted before you can share them??

Anyway--for those who don't knwo what they are and would like to look:

The experience I have had with them .. you should be able to plant the unrooted babies and if the bulblets are healthy they should grow well

Thanks for posting the link

Thanks for the tip. Shouldn't be TOO long til they root, right?? And of course do not water any more often for the babies than for the mama.

yeah ,, Id just keep the soil moist .,.. Id also bring them indoors during the winter ... til you have some to experiment on and possibly kill to see if they are hardy outside

Kill?!!! Bad word!!
Just kidding!
I did kill mine....left them out too long and cold got them. Turned them to mush. Also, think I watered them too much.
Just FYI! Zone 7b/8a border

I am interested, but I am about to leave for a week. I will watch the thread and get back to you then if it is still open. This is a very cool plant, and I could give you a small division of my Ledebouria socialis (another onion that isn't an onion) for a few babies if you were interested.
