I am doing some major 'pruning' this weekend, and will have a 4' +trunk of Rosamond and a cutting of Snowbank to offer as a Prize. I will root them on request.
Contest will start on Thursday 8a.m. EST and end on Monday 8 a.m. EST. It will be for the ugliest corner of your garden, with YOU, dear grower, in your ugliest gardening 'outfit' (no LLBean allowed...no GAP, no OLD NAVY...Walmart...well, OK). The Gardugly has to be somewhere visible (not the compost heap in the back 80)...
Time to be honest...and proud...that YOU, too, recognize Gardugly!

I usually try not to have such photos made, and if they are I usually delete them IMMEDIATELY!! I'll see what I can find, my ugliest clothes (baggy pants, large shirts etc) are my gardening clothes.
Cute idea for a contest, Carol. My picture has already been put on here a time or two and that was enough for me. It't a good thing I don't need those brugs or I'd be trying to figure out a good disguise for my size. Have fun everyone!
Too funny! I usually do my gardening when there is no one around to see me sweating, hair hanging in my eyes, mud spots on my jeans, butt sticking up in the air as I try to reach for a weed and not destroy the flowers in between. etc.
It will be fun to see everyone though, even if it is at their worst. LOL

Maybe there will be more (?) entries if along with one 'Gardugly" pic, entrants (Only!) could also put one picture of themselves that they really like? From Any time in their lives? That might make it a lot easier on those who are shy about first impressions in public. ;)

Don't give up. We're just self concious about our appearence. I actually would participate but my husband isn't around to take a picture of me, mud and all, until the weekend. We work different hours during the week these days, which is why I have so much time to spend on Dave's. Normally I'll do anything for a laugh, even if it's laughing at myself.

OK....as I am the Master of this circus (THIS one...no other) the contest lasts until NEXT Monday the 25 so the other half or quarter can take the picture. Those who DONT want to be in their Gardugly, just need to describe colorfully what they are doing and what they are wearing in the picture!!! :>)
Just came across this, i am spending tonight going through my picture box. Our property was awful when we first started and some of it is still pretty bad. my best friend told me i dress worse than a homeless person when i garden, hope i can find a pic!

Oh, how I love that face. I thought they were supposed to stay small. How big is she? I hear they are the best pets. So smart too.
I think nearly 200 pounds now..she will be 7 on November 7th..she loves to get in her mud hole...She likes to eat and we got her spoiled rotten..lol...she is smart..she knows how to open the gate and get out and roam and get back in...but we know when she gets out..cuz she can't close the gate..lol..

Yes, until ya get too close to her food pan..lol..she will rolled over and let ya scratch her belly..lol..I don't get too close to her when she is in her mud hole cuz she will snort...hate to have mud in my face...I zoomed in on my camera taking her pic..lol...
hmmm - this should be very easy for me! I'll have Russ take some pics when he gets home. I know the perfect spot! Now to go round up some of my ugly gardening clothes.

lol Kell! This spot I have planned is so very very ugly. I used to have a compost pile there. The side of the garage there needs to be painted (I'd love to tear the whole thing down, myself but it's grandfathered in somehow where we can't destroy it - we're hoping a heavy snow will knock it down for us). The back neighbor's yard might show up in the pic. They have like 3 or 4 big dogs, hardly any grass, and lots of smelly dog poo too. Am I painting a good pic for you yet? We decided to plant some flowers back there (I was actually trying to hide their yard, and put in some lilacs but they are on their 2nd year so still too small. Anyways - it will be almost embarrasing to show you this picture.
BUT - it's almost too hot to do anything - like even change my clothes (right now I'm wearing a cute short skirt and that would disqualify me). So we might just have to wait for tomorrow. I'll need to tomorrow, though, because we are going to the lake again because our girls and Russ's college buddy's boys are in the flirting stage and they just bought a houseboat. I guess one of them has a crush on my daughter Katie.

OK... Today is my birthday, so don't make too much fun of me!
My dear husband took this while i was taking a quick drink (he says it looks like i am peeing standing up). This is my "hospital" garden... really not everything in my yard is this dead. The kiddie pools are filled with lilies that i got a screaming deal on l few weeks ago, and had to get in the ground ASAP it is a temporary home. The Magnolia (one of the two dead trees in the picture) i took home from the dumpster behind Lowes (it had a green leaf and i thought... just maybe it will live). The dead cherry tree (directly behind the Magnolia) came from Home Depot (same deal as the Magnolia), and the small dead Lilac, well i killed that one in a pot on the driveway. I put it in the ground hoping the roots are still alive and it will sucker.
Now just so you don't think that i cart dead stuff home from garbage bins all the time (which i do) some of the things i bring home live, and i move them to nice areas. I have 7 delphiniums that are blooming as i write this that i rescued from a cart of dying plants on their way to the dumpster. They looked awful the first year, great last year and magnificent this. Clearly i have more time than money, LOL. Or as my husband says, i am "a sucker for strays" plants, animals people... I was grumpy he took this, which he thinks is SOOOO funny, I was wearing his shorts and a ripped "save the tortoise" shirt .

LOL......... It's one that I warped using some special effects on Photo Suite. Eliminated one eye, melted some areas, stretched the lips, etc. Each Halloween I take everyone's picture at work and then I warp them and we have a contest to "guess the ghoul". I sometimes change the haircolor and such so they're not so easy to guess.
After I turn in the picture that my husband will take of me this weekend you may think this one is an improvement. LOL
