Why don't they bloom????

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I successfully started several brug cuttings over the winter and planted about 8 of them directly outside in the ground. None get full sun, two of them get morning sun and afternoon shade, and the rest get a bit of afternoon sun too. They are growing well, not droopy, keep putting on new leaves, no bug damage, etc. but they have no buds, no flowers... NOTHING! What gives? Do I need to feed them more? Is it just too hot here and maybe I will get some early fall blooms? What's the deal?!

TIA-

probably still in the vegetative stage if they're still just growing straight up. When they "Y", start branching instead of the main single trunk, then you should start getting buds.

Although I have one I started from seed this winter that started forking around at 6'. It's now about 8' and I don't see a bud yet. When it does I'll need a ladder!

Thanks 8ft. Two of mine do have multiple branches off the main trunk but I am still not 100% certain on what it looks like when they "Y." People have posted pictures before asking if a brug had "Yed" only to be told "no" when to me it DID look like it had "Yed." Maybe I should post a couple of pictures of mine! :)

Oh, TXgarden, my brugs won't bloom either.......don't know if it has anything to do with the mean mutterings I feed them in severe disappointment, but.........

Don't give up... Some of my cuttings don't Y or bloom until August or begining of September. Here is an example of the Y you can take a look at. Hope this will give you an idea. Good luck
Don't look at the mess in the background....LOL

Too funny MKJ! I curse mine too! :)

Thanks Kin- great picture. I *think* one of mine may have a Y. I will have to check it out this evening. I'm glad to hear that they sometimes just take a while to bloom!

cursing them works sometimes. I had two that were extra-nasty from spidermites in the hoop house.UUUUUUgly.
Fine, I gave them their last rites in my roughest Navy lingo and stomped them into the leaf compost pile.
Dr. Seuss has Y'd and has buds set to bloom in a week or 2.
Herrenhausen Garten (sp) has started to Y as well.
Plus with all the water I've been showering on the pile (it was mostly shredded leaf from last fall) there's 2 volunteer tomatoes that are going to town.

Oh, I'm so mean to my brugs..........I DO have buds now though!!! I'm psyched..........guess this means I have to apologize.......[redfaced].....

Peach Versicolor has those funny looking buds that I saw on another link--I know I'm impatient as all get out, but when will they bloom???

Patience is the word.......lol Our summer heat has been tremendous and it has slowed my brugs down considerable in growth and in blooming.

Oh, dear, Nanny.........patience is something I'm VERY short of with my green friends......I'm so fairweather, I know.......lol
