Enchanted is growing well and has lots of blossoms, even a few are dropping. The question is with regard to the form of the flower. It is obviously a double, but appears to actually have three corollas, though one has not completely opened up yet. As well as the density of corolla there appears to be a problem on many of the flowers wherein one tendril, from calyx to tip, is tissue thin and stunted. It equates to a genetic anomaly and may be too early to really decide if it is a candidate for the compost heap or not. Is there any chance that this could actually be triple rather than double ? Sounds rather strange to me, but I don't know much about Brugs yet.
Picture 1 is the thin and distorted corolla.
Enchanted X ? puzzlement
I have had a couple of triples Robert that were deformed. So it sure could be a triple. So far 3 of Monika's double seedlings I have grown, have been deformed. Also I hear if you cross a double with a double, your rate goes way up for deformed blooms. It is so sad!!!
My only other time I have had weird blooms is due to a bad infestation of mites.
I have a Tiara x ? growing now that has weird double blooms. I keep thinking it may have mites but I really think it just needs to be composted.
Thanks Kell. I think that pretty well explains it. If CC's Enchanted was a double and accidentally crossed with another one that could be the reason. I'm anxious to see the whole plant in full bloom.
What a shame! Why couldn't it be a perfect deep pink triple ??
