Wonder how long that has been hiding, saw it today for the first time.
Anthurium Cubanese in flower
Wow................very strange.......look on the leaves...... beautiful in shape and too big also. What is the size of these?
kaleem
Yes they are quite large, probably would be a little bigger if planted in
the ground,instead of a pot.
Around 4ft long and a foot to a foot and a half wide.
you start the seeds in spagnum right?
ely
Cool plant! Where can you get seeds for this?
:) Donna
Ely,I've always kept it inside, and don't think it's ever been pollinated,so I never tried planting of the seeds, germinating things from seed, never was easy for me,I think I keep them to wet to germinate and things rot!
Don't know where to get seeds, this was a great find in a little 4 inch pot at walmart, and only seen the one, didn't know what it was, only reason I bought it,thought it really was a birdnest fern.
I never seen such plant before and watch the leaves amazingly...... Very beautiful and very bigmy success with the seeds is fantastic, I grow Red hot poker, Bearded Iris , Dutch Iris, Daylily and Brumansia from seeds and always have good luck with seeds. If some one want to try seeds , easy way.... just send me and I will try...LOL

I gave my friend all the ones I had last year. but he had a big one like yours... he calls his "trashbasket" but I know that isn't the name. he said something about the string and being ready to pick, just don't dig the seeds out. he told me he starts his in spag. anth's are like somewhat kin to the orchids... he has a single plant but it has 3 shoots, but I would think in the aroid fam that it can self pollinate. get the paint brush out next sping and paint it every day....LOL there must be a way to tell when they are ready like the alo, col, xant etc. giancarlo on here should be able to tell you what to do... she has some awsome plants from what I see in her pics... I like that kinda and not those fu-fu, flowered ones...
ely
Thats agood idea, will try to remmber that, trash bucket thats an all time first of hearing one being desceibed!!!
next time I am over there I will take a pic, and see if you can tell me if it is the same one....
ely
I believe there is one very similar called hookerii, birdnest fern, but I think it doesn't get as large or the edges aren't quite as wavy, not much info on these to be found,The tag didn't have any info just a name on it,great would love to see another pic of one
Thanks
Don
