Creamsickle is starting to show off!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I was right - she opened when I was gone for the weekend.

I'll post different views so you can see what she is offering right now. This particular bloom is low to the ground, so you can't see the double. The others buds that are starting (there are many) are much higher, so I think they will show off better. I can't wait to go out early evening and see how she smells.

Here's one that makes yout think it's not a double.

Here you can see, as I lifted it up, it is definitely a double.

Here she is, amongst other plants, mostly perennials, in my front garden, close to the sidewalk. She should look very pretty there, when she starts flushing, and hopefully bring a nice fragrance to the many people who take walks here, during the early evening (and some even as late as 10).

Karrie, I share your excitement. B. creamsickle is my favorite. She blooms from Spring to Fall for me, and has a wonderful aroma.

You hit it right on, Karrie, I could not believe she was a double until I saw the 2nd photo, wow!!! She is very pretty and I do love her prim and proper presentation, lol!! I'm glad you got home in time to see her!!!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh OH, I got a bloom on mine, and it should open tomorrow, it's absolutely beautiful isn't it? is she fragrant? Can't remember if she is or not.

How come no brugs are named after boys anyways LOL. I've never called any of my brugs him/he LOL

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

kathy, remember Dr. Suess and Charles Grimaldi - Dr. Suess was a total failure here, but Chas G roots like a house on fire, wow, I'm just amazed!!! I've never seen ChasG bloom but what I've seen is inspiring!!! And, for these cuttings to root like this, in this heat gives me lots of encouragement...and BarbW named one or two of her seedlings for her sons, but I'm not sure of the names...I'm sure there are others, these are just the ones I know...

Hope (I know your real name, just can't remember it off the top of my head now) -

Yours looks like it needs water, by looking at the soil. From what I have learned about this particular brug, you are not supposed to let them dry out. However, yours doesn't look so bad.

p.s. hey guys, I call Whiskers a guy, lol! (refer to him as "him" - see, there I go!)

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

p.s. Jerodsmom - you were the very nice lady that sent me this cutting! Thank you! :-)

Sherry, yes - she is obviously very prim and proper and quite "modest" if I do say so! lol!

Looking great, Karrie. That new camera is really doing a good job.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What a pretty border Karrie. I love the pink coneflower or is it cornflower? It is striking. If Creamsickle colors orange for you the 2 will be even greater together. I think orange spices up a border. I too love Creamsickle.

Very nice Karrie! Love the double! Now I'm going to just have to add a Creamsickle. I've been all about pink this year, but will diversify more in the future. After seeing several other colored doubles I find myself lusting after them all. There are plans afoot to pull out some bushes on the low hill behind the retaining wall this fall, so I should have more room to go a little crazy. LOL I hear you guys snickering because I said "a little" crazy. Okay, maybe a lot crazy. The only comforting thought is that so many of you have already gone down that road.
Mary

Beautiful Karrie! Sure looks happy and healthy. I sure do like your garden spot there with the coneflowers, snapdragons and daisies. What a pretty setting and creamsickle sure accents that area. Well done!!

And we do love company Mary! LOL. Maybe we can get group rates at the psychiatrist office. LOL

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Group rates for a shrink? Might be just the thing. Or maybe a support group for Brug addiction. What would the 12 step program be?
1. Soil amendment and proper soil PH
2. Fertilize or die trying
3. Codependency: Get help for the one who gave you those seeds
4. Pollination: Make like the birds and bee's
5. How to tell the difference between a bug and a bud
6. Whiskers or tendrils ... not just for men anymore

..... and so on!

Mary, too crazy to be commited!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

lol Mary! You have mail!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Kell, there is Purple Coneflower (Echinecea, if I spelled that right), Blue Meadow Sage that is in the seeding stage right now, white Daisies that I think are a part of the Shasta family but these are only 2 ft tall and more compact which I prefer, and a Purple Bee Balm in that pic. Oh yes, plus that narly snapdragon (they come back to me every year, lol).

I'm glad I could find this brug a home. I found another nice home for one of my Whiskers. Although it is not in bloom yet (hasn't even Y'd and is a monster) it rests on a bed of Candytuft, and has an Elephant's Ear and a Canna to keep him company. (see - he's a he) lol.

Edited to say: I think it's time to clear my porch and spray off my house! Ouch!

Twyla!

It finally came to me! I'm still trying to remember Jerodmom's name. I'm thinking Cathy, but not sure on that - she could send me an email to help! :-)

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Ok, finally got to smell her. Too funny. Russ decided to water and I told him to stop so it could dry out and let me have a chance to smell. DOES smell nice. But because she was saturated with water, could probably have smelled better. My Isabella X that I had last year had the most unbelievable smell - undescribable. But from what I've read, they all smell different, in their own subtle ways. My Isabella X just Y'd in three places, and if she buds, I might put her there in that spot, just for the walkers, hee hee.....

But perhaps I should just give this Creamsickle more time, and a drier moment, lol!

Russ told me tonight he doesn't like yellow flowers. I told him I felt that same way, for the most part, and that I think it has something to do with Dandelions. I told him I think when Whiskers blooms we will have a whole new perspective. Scary to me when your Brugs are as tall as you are (5'6") or taller than you, and they haven't even Y'd. I am looking forward to these babes! :-)

Corte Madera, CA

karrie, congratulations! your brug looks like the one i fell madly in love with in spain!!! when you showed us the 'double', i knew....(sigh).

oh, she's so fragrant at night. intoxicating.

Knoxville, TN

I love the mix with the perennials, Karrie! The Creamsickle really sets off the colors of your boarder. It is just lovely!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Congratulations Karrie!

There is a sticky at the top of the brug page thats wonderful. Maybe this will help with names. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/528065/

Thanks Shelly! There are so many of us, it's hard to keep track!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I've noticed some darker peach streaks - I think she's changing color. I'll take a pic later on when she does.
