My neighbor's mom dug up a bunch of her daffodil bulbs (with the foliage still on) and put them in a container for me. They've been in that container for over a month and today I finally got around to getting rid of the spent foliage and carefully taking the bulbs out of the soil. So, now I have a basket of dirty bulbs with roots. I wanted to plant them in the fall when I put in my other bulbs. How/where should I store them? Do they need to dry out? How long? TIA, Tamara
Daffodil bulbs
That's the way to do it. You can lightly brush off the dirt from the bulbs, but just leave the roots to dry up. Keeping them cool and dry is the key. Put them in an old nylon stocking and hang them in the garage is fine.
