Today I went out to the woody park and found this Parantica sita on Lysimachia clethroides. It is famous for migrancy butterfly.

That is very pretty! It looks a lot like our Monarch, but brown and white. Welcome and thanks for sharing! We'd love to see more from your area!

konkreteblond and DonnaB,
Thank you for viewing. I'd love to post more pics if an opportunity offers but I feel the butterflies are dwindling in my neck of the woods.

All the more reason to share your photos with us! Why are they dwindling?

Goldenfish, that is not good to hear! Do you have butterfly sanctuaries or exhibits there?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Golden, that is absolutely beautiful!

Hi all,

When i was a child (30 years ago) we could find many swallowtails in here but as the housing spreads out , they disappeared from the town as in the case of other insects. The pest insects
don't disappeare, though! I found this butterfly in the woody park where is about a 1.5 hour drive from here. Beautiful place.
konkreteblond,
Sorry to say we don't have butterfly sanctuaries or exhibits in Tottori.

Ahh but, your garden could become one! All it takes is the right plants. :-)

Hmm...that makes sense.
My garden is not big for sanctuary though....lol but I like your idea. Thank you John!

I'm sorry to hear that you are only seeing them in the wooded areas, BUT at least there are still some left. Unfortunately, the pests seem to be a worldwide problem! My garden is my own sanctuary for the butterflies, so you can certainly make your own too! That would sure be interesting. No pressure on you tho. ;) lol
