I recieved a message from dave's garden that said I had to click on a link or have my account here suspended? When I click on the link, it has nothing to do with this web site, it takes me to paypal which requires a paypal account. The 15 dollar fee has been charged on my credit card. Any help is appreciated.
I know this probably isn't the proper forum for this question but it sounded a little fishy to me..
Why must I set up a paypal account?
Okie,
It sounds alittle fishy to me as well.. I never had to do anything with paypal from here except when i paid for my subscription. And my fee for joining dave's was $15, so maybe that is it. Do you already have and paid for a year subscription? or is that what your are attepting to do? If you do then maybe send the link and whole message to Dave and let him look into it.
Hope everything works out,
Char :o)
i believe Dave does go through as paypal type thingy for subscriptions now. i would post aon Daves forum and ask or email him at the bottom of the home page is contact us and directly emails Dave.
Talk to the Man! LOL
I think you are right. I think the paypal thing was done when I subscribed as well. That is how you pay for this forum.
You can send him a check to - I sent in a check and it worked fast... I just hate paypal!
I think I used my debit card--no paypal,
We accept CCs (VISA, MC and AMX), Paypal and personal check/money order.

Okie,
It very much sounds like either a pfish or spam letter. You have to be careful and not click on the links to those sites. If you paid for Dave's through Paypal with a credit card, you might be victim of Pfishing.
Happened to me once, long ago. They some how accessed my credit card account when I went to the link on the site in the email. Next thing ya know, someone has charged $106.00 on my credit card.
I learned my lesson well.
Anytime you get any email that says you need to update information or your account will be suspended BEWARE!!!!!! DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS IN THOSE EMAILS!!! Forward it to spam@paypal.com , if it came referencing paypal. If you ever get one regarding ebay, forward it to spam@ebay.com
Then if you think your Dave's account is being suspended come back here and look and ask Dave. No doubt, it will not be.
Credit card fraud can be real easy to clear up, but it's a pain in the patootie.

:^)))
I used PayPal for a purchase on one of their sponsored companies, & it was a fake PayPal site. There was absolutely NO difference between the real PayPal & the fake! The only way I knew was correspondence with PayPal, where they stated that the company was NOT associated with them in any way. After every member of my family being scammed in one way or another, I truly believe it is simply a matter of time before any person gets nailed these days. Scamming to bilk people out of money is such a huge business! They manage to get around all of the safeguards we utilize.

I'm not sure whether you object to getting a PP account, or just to the questionable email. If you want to use PP for a subscription, and if you know the payment recipients email, you can initiate the payment yourself, and that should not make any difference to the person being paid as long as they can identify you to set up the account. Ignore the questionable email, and do it this. There is a memo area where you can indicate what the payment is for when you send it.
Also - at least for now, one tip for PP account members is that a real message includes your user id or your real name, while the fakes are addressed to "user" or "member".
