Which plants don't need feeding?

Orange, CA(Zone 10b)

I've read through a few threads here and have found that I'm NOT suppose to fertilize beans, tomatoes, MGs, and nasturtiums. Did I get those right? Are there other vegetables and plants that I should refrain from feeding?

You should base your fertilizer decisions on the unique needs of your soil and the plants growing in it. What works in one place may not work the same in another location. If you know that your soil is deficient in some nutrient, then add it. If your plants look like they need feeding, then feed them - including tomatoes, beans, etc.

And remember that there is more than one type of fertilizer. While it's true that adding too much nitrogen may cause extra leaves and less fruit, there are also phosphorus and potassium to consider, as well as a variety of other nutrients. If you're not sure what to use and what not to use, ask a gardener who lives near you and is gardening on the same type of soil as you. Or contact a local agriculture office.
