Mr Cat

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

You have to understand that I rescue dogs... that being said some have behavior problems so we really don't want any other animals around. A feral cat took up residence under the porch. Late at night she sneaks onto the porch to eat out of the dishpan of food I always have full for the “stray dogs that have come to stay”. A few weeks later, she is coming out from under the porch to attack the Bullies that I’m taking on their morning potty break. This simply will not work. I bought a live trap, caught her, took her to the vets, had her fixed and then took her way out into another area and set her free, the local “cat rescue person” had assured me there was a feral community there. Now we have the babies, live trap again and we take them to the vet’s to be neutered, one male and one female. At the vet’s one of them gets loose and “Katie bar the door” madness resulted. My vet ended up having to catch them, with gloved hands and a big bath towel. Neutered and back to our house, I ask Big Daddy to just ignore them and maybe they will go away.

Gracious he is making cat noise to get them to approach when he feeds them. The 'strays that came to stay'; hate the cats so we feed them up high, on the porch table or the wooden workbench I have for potting up plants.

Fast forward if you will, the strays are getting older and won’t even get off the porch when it’s raining. They don’t want the cats to get something “good” so we still feed up high. Sweet Tater Pie, who had puppies two weeks ago, goes out the backdoor to potty. First she sees Dumpy (someone dumped him out) in the dirty clothesbasket outside the door and then she has to step over Mr. Cat as she goes out into the yard to potty.

The last time I was sick, Mr. Cat climbed up to the roof to look for me, spying me lying in bed on the 2nd floor he talks to me through the open window. I know things aren’t right so I pull myself up out of bed and go downstairs. Mr. Cat is right, things are a mess and Mama Judy is very much needed.

Meet Mr. Cat, he follows me everywhere….
