This small 'Peaches & Cream' took a real beating this last winter and has been slow to get back on her feet. The original Y portion is about 5' tall and has thrown up a 3' basal growth on the back side that has normal coloration. On the front side is a 2 1/2' basal growth that is mostly "Cream" with very little "Peaches". :-)
Peaches & Lotsa Cream
that's just wild. Isn't this plant great? I'm gone two and half days and come home to find my PC with a new flush of 6 or 8 flowers open.
I doubt that it would live apart from the mother plant with so little green of it's own, but it has more than several similar p&c sports I've seen. I'd just love to have something like this!
Beautiful variegation warp!!
Awesome sport!!!!
That looks so great!!! I would keep it attached for such interest. Well maybe take a little piece off just to see. LOL. I love it.
So did you get this brug at a nursery Candy or did someone share. I bought mine several years ago at Roger Reynolds and it was named P & C but people here convinced me to was Maya because it grew so well. Now looking at yours, I am wondering if it isn't really as it was labeled.
The best way to tell the difference is to watch the blooms. Maya blooms nod and P&C blooms hang straight down and are longer like versicolor blooms are. Pretty plant you have there. That is some great variegation on the sport.
She is fun and I'm glad you all enjoyed seeing her. :-)
I do not intend to try and seperate this sport from the parent plant. I'm surprised it is so strong and healthy and am anxious to see whether it will survive. It was 103F here today, didn't seem to phase it at all, although I fully expect those delicate leaves to burn up every time the sun hits it.
Kell, I got this one from the Diablo Valley College Hort Dept. a couple of years ago. It hasn't bloomed yet this year, but as I recall the blooms hang straight down.
I died today a million deaths. At one point I thought I was going to stroke out. Why I wait till the hottest part of the day to go down and water my rented plots I do not know. I even wore a hat. I was beat red. It took me 3 hours because the water pressure was nonexistent. So much so one of the guys came over to give me drink. I have no clue how hot it was here, but at 103, how do you stand it Candy?????
I will be eager to follow how yours does Candy, it really adds interest to your brug!
Calif_Sue, I thought my Maya was P&C until Brugie pointed out that the blooms nod. Beautiful blooms you have there and it looks to be Maya.

Kell
You had a hose with water in it
water is for drinking too
Its NOT just for plants.....
Sue, Kin is right, it appears to be a Maya plant. What a beauty it is too.
How do I stand the heat?
I love the heat.......it isn't like mid-western heat at all. Very low humidity and lush landscape and hot weather.....yummy!! The water company is going to clean me out though if this keeps up!!
cc - don't know about Kell's plot, but it may be irrigation water (gray water, brown water) and may not be potable.
Your blooms are beauties Sue, whatever their name is!
I am too fat for the heat! Though I do remember the heat in Boston and New Jersey when I lived there. You could never get dry. Oppressive. Here it is much better.
Yea CC, what Candy said. LOL Duh to me.
