Is anyone ordering Bulbs in the Pre-season Sales?

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Just wondered if anyone is checking the Bulb Catalogs for pre-season sales...I noticed Touch of Nature is offering a good discount. And Van Engelen has some good Allium Promotions...

Are there any other good pre-season promotions going on that you know about?

I am especially interested in Giant Alliums, white camass and Crocosmia this time...

Also, found this blog site with lots of excellent (big) spring bulb bloom pics and good commentary that may be of interest if you are looking for new ideas....

I just got a catalouge and an email that Michigan Bulb has a purchase $40 get $20 off offer. I took advantage of that one :)

One thing to watch out for with these advance sales is the fine print. I've had some situations where they charge you extra shipping if your order is broken into more than one shipment because the items became available to them at different times. That's ok if I order fall and spring bulbs in the same order, but very annoying if its due to their stocking issues and you have no say in it. You can easily lose the benefit of the discount in the extra shipping. If you're paying by credit card be sure to check the language on and call to ask about the policy. I've had good luck with the companies you mention, but bad experiences with other well known companies.

Judy, Check your email! :)

Dutch Gardens just emailed me an offer to "take $25 off orders of $50 or more!" good through August 4.

I think they require your merchandise to total $50, but some companies will include shipping toward your total minimum....

Remember to check even established companies in the Watchdog. Gurney's, for example, had a fine reputation until quite recently.
