I have a basement room that I think would work for a small greenhouse. I want an area for seed starting so I get a jump on spring/summer planting. I don't need to store plants, at least not many. But I would like to try something that would keep lettuce, for example, growing all year. Any info available for type of lighting, heat, etc? I thought about a portable greenhouse from Big Lots or somewhere online - or even getting heavy clear plastic and enclosing a 'closet' type of space. Any suggestions?
Would it be worth my time and money?

indoor greenhouse? - will it work
For starting seeds we built a germination chamber.
For growing on we have shop lights hung 12" apart over 4' x 12' tables. We enclosed the area with heavy black plastic, (we had it on hand, thats why we used black), to keep heat in there as basement is not heated. A heat run goes into the growing area.
Go to my member info & look in threads I have started. You will find a wealth of info.

Great. Thanks. I've never had success with seed starting unless it's directly in the garden. So I'm not sure this will be practical. But I'm sure I will give it another try.
Thanks,
Kathy
