I purchased Bayer Advanced Garden Mosquito Preventer, ready-to-use granules and no one in my area has used them. I'd like to know if any of you have used them and if you put them in and around your brugs and other plants. The instructions say, for use in: flower pots, plant trays, planters, and many other uses. If you have used them, did you use them in potted brugs and brug flower beds, and, if so, what was the result, with regard to the plants, did it damage them??
Recently I received a new fertilizer that calls for Epsom Salt to be added for maximum results and I already had: Espoma, Epsom Plus, natural nutrient, which says it is water soluble. I filled the water cans early one day, add ES, let it sit overnight, stirred it, added the fert, stirred again, and made a trial run. Everything was great until I got to the bottom of the can and there, I found the majority of the epsom salt. Unfortunately, I had already loaded my cans with the mixture and I went ahead and used it, but I'm miffed and after all was said and done, the majority of the ES was still in the bottom of the cans. I tried hot water on it, the microwave, then the blender which gave me a grainy sludge. The reason I used the Epsom Plus was because I already knew that regular ES washes down very slowly. Am I missing something about water soluble ES, is there a trick to getting it to dissolve???

Sherry, when you use a urea based fertilize that contains iron and add Epsom salts, you get a precipitate that is insoluble.
Hmmm. Well that is interesting for sure. This fertilizer, Space City, says for maximum results to add ES, so I assume or certainly would think that if the ES wouldn't dissolve, they would not suggest using it. Knowing that regular ES didn't dissolve easily, I put it in early the day before, thinking, since it says 'water soluble' that it surly would have dissolved in almost 24 hours. I guess I'll have to get in touch with Space City to see what's up. Thank you very much for your reply, Susie!!! Do you use Space City, it's located in Houston...
Sherry I ordered that fertilizer yesterday wanted to give it a try. Let me know what you find out about the Epsom Salts. I just use the regular type, nothing fancy.

Linda, one person told me that they use the fert without the Epsom Salts. I've just used the Space City that one time and I'm just not certain what I will do. I've been called out of town on a family illness and when I return, I'm going to get in touch with Space City about the Epsom Salt. I want to use the fert as they suggest and I just wonder what other users do about the ES. If you find out something, Linda, please let me know. TIA!!!
