Blooming in the Greenhouse today
Patricia congrats they are all beautiful. It is always so exciting when a Hoya blooms for the very first time. I do appreciate it when they continue to bloom too.
Have you compared your noid flower to pictures of diptera flowers? I know there is more than one clone of diptera. Carol has a nice close up picture of a diptera flower that you might be able to compare your flower to, as you can see your flower detail closer.

Your plants all look so happy! Good job. What do you think of X 'mathilde' overall? It allways looks so cute in pictures. Does it grow well for you?

Mark, It took quite a while for it too take off, but when it did, it really grew fast. It is
really a darling hoya.
Debbie, I have been so busy trying to keep everything watered in this heat, that I haven't even had time to research this particular noid. But I will sure go to Carol's site and take a look. Thanks for your input
EXCELLENT, Patrica! Your plants all look spectacular. I know just what you mean about keeping them watered. The heat dries them out so quickly. I finally ran a misting hose around the hanging poles in the greenhouse. I turn it on twice a day and it wets plants, walls and ceiling in less than 5 minutes. It has really helped but I have to make sure I only turn it on while Paul is gone as he has a fit when he sees the water spraying everywhere. It has REALLY helped with the heat and watering!
Hi Mel, I do have a misting system, but the way they put it in, it just runs down the middle of the greenhouse. It hits a few on the inside row but that is it. But at least it does come on by itself. I am definitely thinking of going with a fogger system when I get the money saved up for one. My husband is just like yours. If he even had a clue how much watering I have been doing , especially in the yard, he would croak.
WOW how beautiful! Way to go!!! your noid has a beautiful bloom! I will be watching this thread to see what it is :)
Congrads!

Great! What are the fragrances like?
Cheers,
Ispahan
HI all...I am not at home (playing grandmother on Maui) but I also thought maybe H. diptera... Patricia...check out the photo compendium on my site: you can even put your own photo next to it to compare!!! I love the yellow flowers!
Carol
Yes it does seem to be H. diptera. I had one, and couldn't find another with that label so it seems to be a fit. Until I started using the metal labels that I tie onto the plants, I was always losing them when moving the plants around.
Ispahan, I couldn't detect any frangrance from any of of these.
Patricia...I know you live in a fairly dry area. Have you ever tried putting a strip of old carpet down the walking area of you GH? It can smell terrible at first...but if your mister keeps it wet, it can provide some humidity for the inbetween times.....
Edited to say that it also soaks up the run off water and turns it into humidity for the plants..."waste not want not" kinda thing. If the carpet gets moldy...spraying it with clorox/water gets rid of it...and the scraps are easy to replace. Any carpet store that does installation should be delighted to give you some old pieces (I would think).

Oh goodie!
:) Donna
Carol, that is a great idea, thanks for sharing it with me.
For a while it smells like a very wet Sheep Dog (or Polyester Dog)...but the smell goes away and it works wonderfully!!!).
