Two months ago I adopted a 2 yr. old German Shepard that had spent the first year of her life in a "working kennel" waiting to be trained for police work. The owner didn't pay up so they quit training her and she spent all of her time locked away. A young woman rescued her from the kennel and let her run outdoors with her other dogs. This was good until the GS started running the horses and caused injury to one of them. So...I stepped in and adopted her. She had some issues when we first got her but she's gotten past most of them and has accepted my other dogs. The only thing I still notice is that she likes to gather up all the toys and put them in her crate. I only crate her when we're gone or during the night. The big problem is that I can not get her house trained. I am home for the summer and take the dogs out often. She will hardly leave my side but after much coaxing will relieve herself, (pee) but when we come back inside she will slip out of sight occasionally and poop in another room. We live in town and don't have a fenced in yard so she will have to be a house dog. She is a wonderful, loving and sweet girl but I'm tired of cleaning up after her. Any advice on training an adult dog? I am becoming a bit desperate!
