Thanks Wilma.....this heat spell has certainly brought life to our water gardens. Actually in some cases too much ;).......I'm going to have to start composting a number of floaters.

I have a feeling I won't be seeing some of my big boys this year. Last fall I divided a number before storing.....but with this heat they may make a liar out of me.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your pink and yellow. :)

All beautiful, Pam! Luv the last pic of the rose! I have more water lilies with buds but I think by the time I come home they close up.

Thanks for the lilie shots Pam. The water lilies are making me drool and I can never get too much of the roses.

I don't have any water ilies. I was looking at the pond store the other day, but decided I couldn't afford the ones I wanted. Pam, you would've been in your glory there. I didn't know about this store when you were here, otherwise I'd have taken you there. Here's their url http://www.pacificponds.com it's pretty amazing.

As I mentioned in the other part of this thread, I have a surprise. Actually 2 surprises. I'll start a new thread for that so I don't hijack the water lily thread.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Linda I have a huge favour to ask of you. Could you see if N. 'Wow' is blooming the next time you go there. I have the N. 'Wow' like the one in Werner's photo: http://www.victoria-adventure.org/waterlilies/hardy_galleries/wow.html

I'm curious if theirs looks exactly like Perry Slocum's (the one that they picture in the above link).

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Okay I left this thread to look around and didn't find the surprise........ :(

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I've seen their site before Linda and I too didn't think of where it was located (or even checking the telephone directory) when we were there.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Sorry pam, was out for a bit. am home now and will work on the new thread. stay posted. ;)

Pam, your pictures look great. I am so jealous of your lotus!!!!!! I may need to sneak into Linda and Cheryl's and nab one of theirs, since Linda was so greedy and took both the lotus at the store!!!

LOL

Just kidding Linda!!

Glenda

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

LOL, yup, I"m implusive and greedy. I thought you had a lotus ggd. Hows your gunnera going now, growing huge?

North Saanich, Canada

I do have a lotus Linda, but I started it from seed and it is pretty bad looking!! I am going to transplant it and see if it does better. I have it in a pretty small container right now. I know it may not survive the change but I will give it a shot!!
The gunnera is doing well. We were so worried it would hit gunnera heaven like the other two did, but it has new shoots coming up and looks good!!! I don't know if I will have enough time and energy to do elephant ear AND gunnera cement leaves!!!!!!

ggd

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I think you're really going to enjoy it Linda! Ü

Glenda either buy an already started one or if you want a little challenge (compared to a lot.....ie. starting them from seed ;) then buy a Lotus tuber early next spring (it should be ordered in March so you have it delivered before mid May). It should be shipped while still dormant so its' growing tip won't be damaged.

First of my own started Brug babies to bloom (rooted cutting last fall).......it was taken from a golden oldie (I think Jamaica Yellow......first Brug I owned, purchased from an exotic plant greenhouse in Moose Jaw in 1996).

eeewww, you are making me more excited now! Can't wait until my baby bud blooms too. Buds getting bigger by the day. Woo Hoo!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Just wait until night when they all release their perfume Donna. :)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Oh, I know, I know! You enjoy your beauties too. :)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I will......scents coming out now (I love it OUTSIDE ;)

I think I remember Liz ID'ing the plant sold to me as Jamaica Yellow as Charles Grimaldi. Here's one of the above blooms today.......heat and humidity certainly bring out gorgeous colouring.

Pam it's lovely. I was just outside watering, and the scent from the brugs fills the yard. It's sucja nice smell, to this old nose...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Beautiful, Pam! I still don't see any buds on my brugs. I posted pictures of the storm that hit here. I was worried that the brugs would have snapped but they look okay. Maybe this will shake them up and get them to produce buds.
:) Donna

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Thanks Linda and Donna. :)

Donna I know the feeling.....when the hail clouds were forming above us I felt sick. The year before the hail did a real number to my Brugs. Much further ahead this year and I'll bawl if something hits them again.
