I have cucumber beetles in my pumpkin patch. Are they responsible for this? Tamara

probably not. They may may cause skinned places on the fruit, they eat the outer skin sometimes, but nothing like what you have pictured. What shape is the vine in, vine borers are a possiblity. Plus there are diseases which can give this appearance,
