I believe that is a tropical hibiscus and not a hardy hibiscus. And I have one (unnamed) that the blooms and foliage look just like yours.

Oh Nathalyn, that is a chore huh, but worth it!!! I am waiting for some of the ones I got in the hibiscus co-op to bloom for the first time, but they are in pots, and need bigger pots, a job this weekend. I sure hope we all miss hurrican emily!!!! I am kinda concerned about this one, cause my best friends daughter is named Emily---and she is a hell-raiser!!! LOL!!!
Thanks for the compliment too Waterloolily!!! I love it, and so do the thieves in my area!!! My variegated snow queen has been blooming, but now it rains everyday, so I cannot get pictures anymore, waiting till the rain subsides a bit, but we NEED the rain, so no complaints, believe me!!!!!
have a great day all, and here is my snowqueen variegated hibiscus!

People steal off your plants? I got mad yesterday because someone had used my water hose! I'm no Sherlock, but I went to use it when I came home from work and the water was coming out of it ice cold, usually it is very, very hot and I have to run it a few minutes before I water. I suspect the guys who were redoing the city sidewalk. I thought that was terribly rude, but stealing plant cuttings? In someone's yard??? What is wrong with people? I seriously may end up being 'that crazy lady with a 8 ft fence around her entire property'

Mrs Jimmie Springer,is the name

Tman ... have a judgement call on tropical vs. hardy on that one? My vote is tropical based on looking at the leaves and the shape of the flower. Yeah, I know ... not the most scientific means ever devised ... lol

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Yes tropical, but in zone 9,it would probably come back from root, which would be hardy for Rose, but not for us!!I wished it was!!!

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree with Tropical (glossy leaves.) Closest I can come to is Grosse Tete.
