My pod has warts!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I had one 2 years ago like this. I thought I had a terrible virus. I was so distraught. I guess if the calyx stays around the pod and it gets moist inside, it grows these warts.

mama said something like that would happen if I went around dusting every flower in site.

You know, Wikipedia should have visual aids with it's definitions. I think you've got a money shot for "Skanked Up!"

Blaine, this time I am not going to even ask. LOL

I don't know what it is, Jackie. Though I was just thinking that RK sometimes has similar looking white cacca on the inside of her calyx flaps. Now that I have taken the calyx off, it will dry out and turn brownish black. Most of the pods on this Butterfly tree are just fine. Last time it happened on Rosamond and I freaked. LOL. But I got a few icky pods and after that they were fine.

I have had that stuff on the inside of the calyx of Butterfly before, wasn't on pods, but was growing on the inside of the calyx, let me see if I can find a picture.

Oh no! That looks like something from outer space!

Like something out of that old Sci Fi movie - The body snatchers.
The pod grows and then it takes your place. Looks just like you, but it's not. Could alter the plot that it turns people with brown thumbs into ardent gardeners. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. LOL

Interesting, Kell! On occasion, animals have warts like that too, horses, dogs, pigs, that I know of - but they are, in those animals, a virus that disappears, without treatment and without scars, but they look awful. Maybe the same is true with brugs, eh? How has your brug progressed?

Looks like a dead bird. Or a dead mouse. Jeanette

Ick Jeanette. LOL. Sherry, it is just on a pod. Th ewhite stuff will dry up and turn brownish and be fine. It will look terrible though. It doesn't hurt the seeds.

When I grew mine in the greenhouse(very humid in there), they would get those wart thingies all over the calyx and if the pod kept the calyx on, it would get warts too. I think Tracey called it edema or something like that.
