Are these BUDS

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I noticed these about 4 days ago, there are about 20 of them on my Tequila Sunrise (I think or Sunset) . At first I thought they were new leaves coming on, but they are getting bigger and I have decided they aren't leaves.

Cool. I'm not sure I've seen this one bloom before. I hope you will post a picture or two.

Looks like you will get a great flush. Lucky you!

Will two of them have already gone limp and fell off.

Oh that is no fun at all, Linda. Is it real hot where you are? Or did you let her dry out?

I have been having bud drop here lately and it makes me just nuts. I have one brug that had so many buds and they were so big but one by one they drop off when they get a certain size. I fear I will never get to see one open. Hopefully yours has just growing pains and the rest will be fine!

I hope my brug comes through. It gets watered some everyday. The temp. here has been in the high 90's, very little rain, if any at all. I was getting so excited when I saw them, then told myself not to get excited cause anything could happen. It does tend to make you sick when you see the buds and then all at once you see them starting to fall off. Maybe my day will come and I will have a bloom. Even if I could get just one, I would be happy.

Linda

Or are we ever happy with just 1??

Congratulations on your buds! Will keep my fingers crossed that the rest hang on for you. That would be a great sight.

I will be hoping for you! I bet though you will get blooms!!! Once they start they usually keep going too.

I just remember last Sat. that brug did get dry. It was wilted down and I watered it as soon as I saw it. I just went out and checked it out and the other buds on it look pretty good. I am keeping my fingers and toes all crossed. I'm not getting my hopes up to much. Who am I kidding, my hopes are so high I couldn't reach them if I wanted to. LOL

Linda

I'm typing this with my glasses off, hope the spelling is all correct. I'm in the middle of giving the pugs a bath, they are soaking right now. Better get back to them..

I bet it will be fine. I let mine dry out too sometimes, then when I see all the buds on the ground I could just kick myself.

Go Linda, I can't wait to see your buds grow into some bea-u-ti-ful blooms!! I had severe bud drop last year on my first brug, and I cried like a baby. I almost sat on top of her once the next buds did appear, until she bloomed. I will be thinking about you, and I hope that the rest hang on and grow well.

Thanks to all of you for your concern about my little buds. I am just dying for a bloom.

Linda2, I have a terrible time finding a happy water medium, they always seem too dry or too wet. I want one of those things you can put in your pot to tell you when it needs water, but I don't want it to whistle like a tea kettle and that's the only kind I can find. Happy blooming, I really hope it's soon, I know how difficult it is to wait...

Linda, I'm so glad too see you have buds!! Now the waiting game begins. Don't get toooooo Stressed OuT! LOL
Sherry, if I had some of those water indicators in my pots I would be kicked out of the neighborhood for noise pollution....LOL

Yep, me too Kin, my tea kettle, sounds like one of those whistles on a submarine, wouldn't I be popular with that going on all day/night, lol!!

I have a moisture meter but it doesn't seem to matter if they are moist or not they do the heat of day droop bad. So I have taken to watering every AM & again in late afternoon. I have a seedling that is suppose to be a Dbl Color, it droops so bad I'm moving it back into the shade, I really want to see it bloom. We are getting into the high 90s & low 100s, Heck I wilt out there too!
I was reading in the "other" Brug book that because their leaf surfaces are so large that they lose moisture more rapidly than the roots can supply it. (potted plants) It also said to spray/mist the leaves to help them hydrate when they are wilted....Well I'm one of those gardeners that believe you should'n get water on the leaves if they are in the sun, but this one was so drooped I gave it a shot, & it helped almost imediately & nothing happened like burning, the plant just perked up.
I may be sprinkling them more often while it so warm.
Ace Hardware & Home Depot both have the non noisy meters.
