Lotus weather

Dundas,, ON(Zone 5b)

Well, It's sure lotus weather here.

I can't believe this - 85F inside, and the house was closed up tight all day, drapes drawn etc - and hotter still outside and it's past 8 p.m.

All the plants on my roof garden are turning crispy - and I'm not kidding when I say crispy - despite watering every day. They said today that Toronto has had 1.3 CM(!) of rain in the past month.
Wonder why we can't find a happy medium with those of you out west??

Anyway, I'm going to have to look at new plantings for the roof, since I'm enough of a 'conspiracy theorist' to think that this weather probably sets the standard for the next several years.

Anyway, what this rant really boils down to, is there a special forum for drought-tolerant and sun-tolerant plants? I didn't see one when I scanned through. And that, I hope can be combined with stuff that can stand Toronto winters and not die.
And they have to be able to grow in 5 " of light-weight growing medium.

*sigh* Boy, I don't want much, eh?

If anyone has any suggestions they would most gratefully be accepted. I might as well start planning for next year.

On the upside, this is the first year that my raspberries (black and red) have actually had fruit.

It's been too hot to eat today - maybe I'd better and get my blood sugar up. I do sound a bit pessimistic, eh?

Of course there is this forum as well

.....but there is that *overwintering* thing to do. ;b

Was just suggesting that you would mulch your plants to keep the moisture in the soil longer, but we lost power and when I came back Pam had already directed you to the forum. We really do spend too much time here.
