Does anybody know on how to build a waterfall. I see at home depot the black fiberglass liner pond. Is that where the water is going down? If so, Im looking at at high 2 feet by 5 foot wide long pond. Do i need rocks for this fiberglass liner pond? If so, How do i arrange the rocks so the waterfall can cascade down? Do i dig? If so how deep? Please give me info!! Step by step!!
I need ideas to build a cheap small waterfall?
Deb
I have been thinking on the waterfalls how to's myself for a while
now and i think i have something figured out.
i'm thinking of building a bio-filter from a big 18 to 25 gal storage tote
which from the looks of a few of them is really simple.
suck water from the pond and send it into the bottom of the
storage tote, the water fills up and someware on the side
you make the spill out with a pvc flange and some pipe.
I'm going to just suround the tote with a pile of rocks and on the
spill out side (overflow) make the waterfalls , set a large flat rock
over and under the pipe so you cant see it.
I'll be playing with my Bryce landscaping whatnot program and
I'll post a pic in a few hours on this idea.
I dont plant on doing alot of digging , The size of the one im planing
is just alittle bigger then what your doing.
Im thinking of just getting some topsoil and rocks and just
build up the egde with that to the depth i want and then toss the
pond liner down on the lawn and over the edge i made.
Im even going to try the hypertufa mix to make some fake rocks
and may even slap that stuff on the side of the bio-filter.
well here are the pics i made up .. not the best but should give ya
a idea or 2
I am planning to build a small pond with a small waterfall, too. The illustrated one appears larger than the space I want to devote to mine. Is there a way to stack some flat rocks stairstep fashion for water to spill into a small pond? I want to make the mechanisms as simple as possible. The pond size I am planning is also about 2 feet wide by 5 or 6 feet long. I will look for the fiberglass liner at Home Depot.
I am thinking of a mound of dirt with a liner over it and then flat rocks on the liner to make the actual falls. The liner will over lap the pond so all the water returns to the pond instead of running out the back (or somewhere). Now I am wondering if dirt will be stable enough. Maybe I should use cinderblocks covered with dirt or old carpet under the liner to make the initial shape? Hmmm.
Good Luck all. I have been messing around for 2 summers with small waterfall. Have 2 formed ponds and wanted real small falls connecting them. used rubber liner for that section. In juneI thought I was set. NO LeAKS. July tried to hide all my liner with stone. Guess what--LEAK. This must have been 4or 5 tries. Now I am waiting for a guy to come and see what he can do. Ill keep watching to see how you make out.
Are you just waiting for *any* guy to come along???? hahahah :o)~
It sounds as if a little waterfall is a lot of trouble. I have been stalling this project, just making sure of what I want.
