Any suggestions?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi All,

I have a problem with my waterfall that I want to address. The water comes out of the 'Biofalls' and goes down two wide, flat-ish rocks and into the pond. My problem is that way too much water goes to the sides of these two rocks and disappears - presumably making it into the pond eventually. In any event I am sure it's not 'leaking' since I would have one major level problem (I have a minor one that I've yet to track down).

I want more of the water to make it to the pond for two primary reasons. I want to hear the soothing sound more and I want to provide more oxygen for the koi. I have tried positioning stones to direct the water toward the center with only minor success. The problem is that most of the water still goes right under these rocks, since the surfaces are not really flat. Any suggestions??? I was thinking about some clear silicone as a bead down either side of the flat rocks with some larger stones pressed into the bead. I would have to turn off the pump for a while and dry off the rocks. Don't want to leave the pump off too long with the koi. ANy other ideas? Thank you.

you can get waterproof quickcrete that sets n water at lowe's to fasten rocks on the sides to create a runway. you could use it similarly to patch up and holes that it's retroflowing into.

You can also get the black expanding foam to seal between the liner and the bottom of the rock where the waterfall flows over. I've not used the foam yet so maybe someone else has some experience with it.

i agree with the foam you can get it in black, first i would place some larger rocks at the sides then foam behind and under them and place smaller rocks around them to direct the water where you want it. the foam you get at pond supply stores says it can be used wet but i would wait a few hour and either place a pump in the pond or a air stone

beautiful pond, by the way.

Thanks to all. Why would the black foam be preferable to the Quikrete? see two advantages to the concrete - I can work while wet (if it actually works that way) and I would think it would be less noticeable with the stones. Any thoughts? Has anyone actaully used the waterproof Quikrete? Thanks again.

Havn't used the waterproof quickrete. But, we have used that black pond foam. That foam keeps expanding and breaking off. Some of the rocks that I stabilized with it are falling off now. When we need do more to that area we will look for another product. Good luck. I agree, you have a beautiful pond.

Victor I am not sure if your fish would be safe using the Quickcrete.Where I have been buying a few pond thingsat the guy told be it would be harmful to fish. He sold me the black foam. What a mess, didnt work for me. Of course I didnt know what I was doing.
