Glads

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I just planted these for the first time this year. I really don't have any idea how to treat them. Do they overwinter in our area, or do they have to be dug? If so, when?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I had them in pots for many years and they did fine outside year after year.

Anybody in the DFW area?

Some things we can leave outside in the coastal area won't make it further north of us.

Oh, right. I have such zone envy of you guys down south of here. :)

I think there was a DGer from Lewisville that posted great pix of glads. I didn't get the impression he fussed too much over his. If I find the thread I'll post a link. If I remember correctly he had them planted inground full zone.

edited to add, http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/512643 I made a mistake. the poster is SteveFtworth.

Hi, we planted glads last year and they came back again fine this year. we are in the DFW area.

Also they are totally hardy in all areas of the UK so I wouldn't expect them to have a problem with Texas winters.

I am just south of Desoto in Dallas Co. my glads come back with no problem. Some folks down the road have had them for several years with no problem.

Wow, such pretty blossoms on that thread.

Guess I will just leave them and not worry about it. That's good--I need all the worry-free bulbs I can get. Thanks to all who answered.
