Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

I have one trade of Hanahubuki Japanese Morning Glory and a few trades of Hatsu Arashi Japanese Morning Glory if anyone is interested. These are BIG fresh seed from my garden.

I am looking for flowers that are good for cuttings and can grow in my zone.

Hi Chelsea,

I would love to trade. This may seem like a dumb question but I have never grown daylily's before. Are they difficult to start from seed?

Hanahubuki was the name it came as originally, recently in the last co-op it was changed to hanaFubuki, HanaHubuki is in the database, I believe the other is as well..............

This is one that my friend in Japan translated in 2004

Sbarr 's '03 Co-Op
offered it as "HanaFubuki"
Loph translated like this:
"Hana" should be one of y'all's favorite words: "flower". "Fubuki" is a two character compound that means "blizzard". "Hanafubuki" is a common word in the springtime, especially when the cherry blossoms bloom - it refers to the idyllic scene of the millions of pink petals wafting down.

But when I received the seed packet, on the backside in English it said "HanaHubuki" And the English meaning she gave me was Petal Storm

My private '04 Co-Op
No English writing on packet so was translated by my friend. Also no company name printed in English.

Sbarr's came from Takii, Takii is a very old company - 140 years or so.
They are obviously a few steps ahead of the company in my previous post.

Did anyone grow these out and get a picture? Mine rotted. I would be curious to see which company put the correct color on their packaging . . . my bet would be on Takii

Laurie, are these the ones you got through me where the picture on the seed packet looks red instead of pink?

There were only two other people who got that one through me. So counting you and me that would make 4 people who got them. I believe I rotted mine. LOL

Hi Arlene, mine is the first packet with the translation written across it, yup that was me who got some.
Mine are growing, but more streaky, but remember these are second generation seed from my seed from last year, whew that was long winded LOL I still have some in my original packaging, I always save seeds of the original just in case I need to replant.

Also that link in your second picture, that is according to my monitor a 100% accurate color that they bloomed :)

Glad to see you Arlene, it's been awhile!!!

So the first packet is just a lousy picture . . LOL When I received it, I thought . . . Wow! a truly red morning glory . . . NOT!

Thanks for clearing it up Laurie. Haven't been on Dave's all summer . . too much going on. Hopefully this winter I can spend my early mornings on Daves.

Happy Gardening!
