I am so sorry Larry. I know I was worried sick when they were showing the MS, Ala line. I hate it for anyone. You are welcome to come hide out with us here if it stays over your way. That way you are not to far away to get home and check on things. Told Trish to come too if she needed to evacuate

Foley, AL

I will keep that in mind...

thanks a ton

Donna,
It is costus subsessilis. Yours is beautiful!!
I love that costus we got them in Mobile last summer, but I killed mine. Along with a few other things last year. That is the one costus I wanted from the MBG sale, but they didn't have it this year.
Congratulations!!
Janet

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Janet if it divides I would be happy to give you a pup or if the other one I have is the same you are welcome to it. It is not in as good a shape as the one in the pic. I almost lost it while rooting

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

The more I learn about these curcumas, the more I know that I do not know!! These are just so pretty - I cannot believe that I did not know anything about them until recently.

Foley, AL

yep curcumas are neat. if you keep them in the pot and let them force. you can break every bulb up next spring and they will grow.where ever you plant them.

I remember having a bunny ears ginger, it was lovely, traded it off. that's what mine was called anyways. Looked just like yours Donna

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I think I got one from you too Kathy in our trade. I have 2 of them lol

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Hey, Larry, you take care; looks like you are in for a rough ride!

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL your kidding, I didn't realize I sent it to you. I knew that one looked just like mine, but I think that all the bunny ears are that color flower.

Foley, AL

yep thanks roz... I am going to take some pain pills and sleep it off... J/K

take care Larry and stay safe. We decided to leave since they are saying possibly Pascagoula so we are going to Vancleve a little north of us in the country. We will get flooded in and stuck if the water comes up and I know it will. It did in TS Cindy last week

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Donna, definitely leave. You are way too close to the action, and will probably have a rough ride too. Actually, it may hit direct to Pascagoula. Stay safe.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hope everyone stays safe!

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

I had one that looked like that but it wasn't a costus.. can't think of the name right now.. will have to go through my old pictures as the plant got left behind in GCS.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

we are back and all is well. Just one Maple Tree down and it was sick and my Tithonia Diversifolia that was 9' tall took a good blow but all else is well. Got more debris from TS Cindy last week then we did for Dennis with stronger winds. Makes no sense but I am very happy it turned out this way. Trish faired well she said when I spoke with her about an hour ago

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank goodness Donna! I bet you all could use some rest!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

So glad to hear you came through things okay! I worry about you guys.

Anybody heard from Larry?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

no and I am beginning to worry. He should be alright though because Trish and others from Florida are alright.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Donna. I have not heard from him in several days and last I did, he was trying to save plants. :(

Foley, AL

I am alive alive... plants are alive... might need some water....LOL

ely

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Some water??? You nut! I was thinking they might need soil, but not water. LOL

Foley, AL

LOL we only got 45 minutes of wind from that storm 30-45 minutes away was hell....

ely

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

you are joking Larry. We got it all day, all night, and the next day too

Foley, AL

ely

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)
