Eeeeks! I responded to all to the emails, but didn't catch this thread of kind welcomes. Sorry to all for the belated Thank You for your nice posts.
About me...I have lived here for 9 years now, but only my second season taking the Texas challenge. Used to live on a river in Illinois, with super rich soil, adequate rainfall and all the free oak leaf compost/mulch a human could use.....it was little more than throw seeds, stand back and harvest.
As for Texas, I'm afraid I'll have more questions than answers for a while.
