I just received a batch of Allium caeruleum bulbs from a friend of mine in an exchange. Can I plant them now, or should I wait until the fall. I have a perennial bed with other Alliums, lilies, tulips etc, that are finished and they get the same amount of water that the summer perennials are getting. Would it hurt a new Allium any more than the others that are planted there. I find this confusing. Any advice would be appreciated.
Allium Bulbs
Gee, OFG, that's an interesting question, and I wonder what the answer is, too...it seems like it would be OK, but...
Todd Boland, who posts on DG, knows a lot about alliums...here's a thread about alliums and it mentions one of his articles that might give you a clue....

Hi Tabasco,
Thanks for the reminder. I know Todd well from the Canadian Gardening forum and I should have remembered that as a horticulturist, he is very knowledgeable about most plants and actually Identified the species of Allium that I was wanting the info about. I will write to him and see what he has to say.
