First Blooms

Salt Lake City, UT(Zone 5b)

Hi! A couple of months ago I purchased my first brug--a Charles Grimaldi. He has gone from being 6in high to 3 feet tall! I am wondering when I can expect my first blossoms. Is there anything I need to do to help him bloom? I am fertilizing with a time release fertilizer--osmocote. Thank you

has it formed a Y off one of the stalks?? if not then it has to too form flowers and you have to be patient for those y s .

fertilizer osmocote is good but alot of us also use water soluble fert ( osmocote makes one and miracle grow)at least once or twice a week also on top of the slow release.

plenty of water. shoot down here in sc where its so muggy i end up watering 2 times a day.

i am no expert but this is all i have been told to do to help the plants. hope it helps some.

I just checked and I do have a Y! The flowers form off of this Y? Thanks for all the help

My CG has giant leaves!! I'm assuming all CG's do. I went out and took this picture to show you. I have small hands, wear a size 4 wedding ring, but STILL!!!

Yes Lindsey, it will Y then keep Ying up, up and up. And it will make lots of blooms on the Ys. Look for subequal leaves at the base of the leaves, that is a good sign buds are forming. Good luck!!

I hope we will get some pictures!! Once they start they really go fast at this time of year.

Congratulations....it won't be long now. Have fun and take lots of pictures. They really come in handy during the winter months when things slow down. Hint, hint........Besides we want to see those blooms right along with you.
