Western Spiderwort and Hosta. [See "Hosta ID? Trade???" thread in the Hosta Forum for (way too) many photots!]
Here a sort of photo of the Spiderwort - they close up during the heat of the day, so I just found this one in the trash to give you an idea of it!
Hmmm - this photo loks blue, but the actual color is a soft purple.
For trade...
What would you want for spiderwort? I have a white one that I just love and it needs friends.
I have always enjoyed trading with you. I would want you to accept some Spiderwort as a housewarming gift, with a promise that you will be happy in your new home!!!

That is so nice of you. I will try to be happy really I will. It is hard though because the older I get the harder it is on me to move. This old bird is kinda tired of being tough.
I'm not sure if I have 2 different kinds, or if the flowers are just different shades because of the location they are growing in, but I will send you pieces from both. I'm having the devil of a time getting these suckers loose, so you will probably be getting rootballs! I was trying to dig some out a week or so ago and smashed the heck out of 'em. Then I tried to pull them, and everything broke away from the roots! I went out this morning and they are already starting back up again. Worse case scenario, they will die-off for this season and come back bigger and stronger next year!
The addy exchange is still down, so please d-mail me your address. I will probably not mail them until next Monday morning so they won't need to sit around anywhere over the weekend.
The Blue Spiderwort grows native here. I have TONS of it if anyone else wants some!! I will GIVE it away!! hehehe I sometimes pull it up when weeding and throw it away but the flowers ARE nice and they do produce seeds. Bonnie
They make lovely arrangements, too! The flowers will continue to bloom when they are in water!
Bonnie - you should start your own thread if you have an offer.
