Elephant Ears too big?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Will EE's get so big they pull themselves out of the ground? This is my first year to grow these and one of theme has leaves about 2 1/2 feet in legnth and seems to be leaning over from the weight.

Hi Jester,
You wouldn't happen to know which variety you have? I'm going to post two pics, and see if yours looks like one of these, and let me know, okay. Thanks....grayse2

Jester,
The other pic is still on my camera, so go ahead and look up: Colocasia esculanta, and see if yours looks like this, okay, then get back to me, and I'll see if I can help. Have a good one.......grayse2

Jester. Every day I come home and find mine laying on the ground. They have not yet uprooted themselves. They are thirsty!

I set the sprinkler on 'em for about 30-45 minutes and they perk right back up again. These ees are nearly over my head and I'm 5' 2". It's mighty hot in SATX right now (I work for Harcourt there - from here); maybe you should give 'em a drinky?

Hope that helps.

Jester...keeping them well watered is a must; they like to be fed with a liquid fertilizer once a month, and just make sure they're in good soil, and by this I mean you want it good draining, of course, but they can also take a heavier soil, with some clay, because this holds in the moisture, and helps support them, also.
