Cucumber beetles

I have cucumber beetles on my pumpkins. What is a safe, homemade recipe to kill them?

Me, I'm going to dust the garden with diatomaceous earth. I've never seen so many cuke beetles. And japanese beetles, too. But nary a caterpillar.
