New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Mine got very tall..lost it's leaves. It then started coming up from the roots...so I cut back the tall stems...and now it's leafing out again! Yours is very pretty!

Beautiful Don! Ü

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Wished it would bloom a big flush of flowers
Thanks!

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Mine has been blooming down here for months now. I can't believe how easily these root in water. I had a branch leaning too far over so I cut it back and stuck it in water. Must have had roots in like 3 days.

Budgie you grow yours in full sun?

Biggest flush of flowers I ever had.

Mine started out in full sun but they are in between a firebush which has grown to about 6 ft tall now and a banana tree which is abou6 ft also so it is now getting shade except for around noon.
I plant to relocate it in the fall as it is getting crowed in and needs more room to expand. BTW a large branch just broke off during some high winds. I just stuck it in a bucket of water I had nearby and it is already rooting. It's about 4 ft long so I will have an instant bush.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Had no idea you could root a branch of 4 ft in length, thanks for letting me know that!!!!
Moved mine to dappled shade, flowers last longer.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Now that I have 3, I am going to experiment with them.
The 4 ft one that broke off is a nice straight piece and I am going to see if I can train it into a standard of sorts

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

How tall does yours get overall?
Mine is in a pot and about 6 ft tall and is trained as a standard.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Right now, it probably goes about 5-6 at the tallest branch.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

This has to be one of my most favorite summer plants. I have this one and I bought one off ebay last summer that is even a more pastel pink that is very pretty. I had grown a white one and had a bunch of cuttings that I just gave away. Unfortunatly for me, I forgot to save one for myself .

I haven't seen a white one. Bet it's beautiful.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They get 10 ft tall here, flower all year round(except when we had the snow, then it took them a couple of months to start flowering again) I chop them back because they grow like weeds! They like it hot!
There is one area where they've taken over a wetland, there must be a million plants growing all out in the water. They are native to here and Mexico.
Mine in the garden don't need much water.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well I hope your prepared for lots a water,Emily is bareing down on the Texas Mexico gulf coast tonite.
Cala,take cover!
Wish you luck,I heard its back to a F3 storm again 125 mph winds.
Fingers crossed for you.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Question: If pruned but not to the ground, will they get bushy? Mine always grow straight up and have a topnotch of leaves and blooms. I would like a bushy plant if possible. Are they suppose to be okay in the ground in zone 8? The first one I had didn't come back, and I've kept current ones in pots and greenhouse in winter.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I can't answer since this is my first year with it but I will be finding
out soon as mine is also leggy and I will be trimming it back to see what happens.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Well...I cut mine back a few weeks ago...and now it's going crazy! It's really bushed out for me!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well,I got this one in a trade From Tampa,Florida, says it goes dormant loses it's leaves but comes back every year.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Thanks, ya'll. Sounds encouraging. Think I'll get the clippers!

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I got mine last year and in my area of Florida, it didn't go dormant
Jan...

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

Mine didn't go dormant either....LOL! I brought it in for the winter!!!!!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

You lucky people!!!!

Mc Call Creek, MS

I'm in zone 8, and mine doesn't come back. Just take a cutting in the fall and overwinter it in the house or greenhouse. They get pretty big in no time and bloom all summer.

You'd think one zone wouldn't make that much different,at least come back, funny how plants grow!
