I got a rather large brug at he SOCAL RU and it was so healthy and attractive. now it's yellowing and the lower leaves are dropping off despite heavy watedring, epsom salt sprays, and transplantation into a larger pot... help?
Brug trouble?!
How long ago was the RU and how long ago did you transplant it?
Brugs let their older leaves turn yellow and drop for a variety of reasons. Just to get rid of them, or after a plant has been allowed to dry out and even overwatering can get it to yellow its leaves. Transplant shock or just moving it to a totally different environment can cause it too.
Unless it is severe, I would just watch. Stick your finger way down in the actual old rootball and see it it is soggy or dry.
Also, if you transplanted it, often the plant does not need to be watered as much as before you repotted it. The new excess soil provides a wet zone around it and since it is not filled with roots drinking up the water, it tends to hold the water longer.
And just the opposite can happen also, if you did not pack down the surrounding soil during your replant, sometimes the rootball is so dense, the water you are giving it just rolls down the sides of it and out. The actual rootball stays dry and the plant is unhappy.
Can you post a pic?
