4th of July CONTEST FUN COMBO PICS
As good as those 2 pics are above, thank god Loretta you do not have a brug growing on an island in your pond or I would have to declare this contest over before it began! LOL No one could compete with that sight except maybe Candy.
You have such a lovely garden.
Kristi-that 1st picture is enough to make a girl throw in the towel. You certainly have a gift for growing brugs. And your P & C makes mine look like a twig. lol I can tell the competition is going to be tough for this contest.
(big grin) Thanks kell, you are much too kind. HMMMMM.......an island??? lol
Awww; Thanks Loretta. Yours are wonderful too, and easier to see the different plants in. I'd planted these brugs pretty close together along the road that runs by my house, and with the Cotton Roses behind them, they made a wonderful thick privacy screen, that would knock your socks off in the evening with the fragrance. There is also yellow Lantana and red Vinca planted underneath which looked really great, but don't show here due to the time of evening and the weight of the brug blooms pulling the branches down.
Brug tree, begonia, New Guinea impatiens, and Firefly Princess. A repeat, and just for fun, since we already have our own pink fairy princess!!! That prize is so precious and will be a wonderful addition to any garden, good luck to all...and my vote goes to Loretta (Mayla waterlily framed by brugmansia), that is one of the most beautiful brug photos I've seen, just breathtaking!!!!
I love that floozie, ruffled skirt, who is she lagata?
Actually, the prize fairy itself isn't actually pink. She's the color you see in the picture. However, if the winner is dissatified with that one I can promise to dress up in a pink tutu, and suspended by wires from the nearest television antenna I'll sprinkle; not fairy dust, but common household dust over your garden. I have a lot of that because housecleaning is not my favorite thing to do. Tee Hee! Gads, I'm 20 pounds overweight, I'd probably scare small children and animals if I did that. They'd be throwing diet pills at me! LOL
Mary
Sherry, You are just the cutest littke thing I have ever seen. I had no idea you were so playful. lol
LOL, Mary!!! Most wear Razorback Red tutus here, but my fav is pink!! Thanks Loretta, I've always been a silly girl!! Your waterlily and brugs is really pretty and different, the Mayla compliments the brugs, which remind me of the brug lamp that someone sent to the forum - I like the photo being long, rather than tall, the typical shape of brug prints...
LOLMary. No more house dust needed here for I am good at making my own, but I may go for the pink tutu. LOL
Sherry, who is that falry?? What a kick.
Hey Sherry, no voting yet. And who knows, someone may trump Loretta's pond. You never know.
Ooooops, that vote was supposed to go in the absentee box, fooey, I'll be good next time!!! Where is Candy and Margie, they usually have super photos too, ooooh, and Clare, we are missing some of the big guns and I'm sure there are lots I cannot remember right now.
The fairy is my grand, and understudy, Madeline, 10, she makes every step I make and plays dress up - that was a total surprise and my other grand, Kristen, called me and said there was a big firefly in my garden, I went out, and there was Mad in her get up, they are fun kids...
Mary, that is one beautiful flowerbed. I love your pot man.
I love you tub, Loretta, I wanna get one!
Well, love the pink fairy and want one of those for my garden.
Kin love the PNW. If I was'nt such a good Texan and a true Steel Magnolia I would be living on Vancouver Island, BC. They love my accent up there. It reminds them of dueling banjo's lolol. Your plants are lovely and the little hummer is so cute.
Oh Mary, forgot to say. Keep your eyes open when driving through neighborhoods from the 30's and 40's. I saw my tub in a yard, stopped and asked to buy it. Got it for 75.00 and a six pack of beer. Then I came home, looked on The Internet and discovered they are selling those old tubs for 1000.00 dollars and up online. Some people must have more money than sense. lol
Loretta
How can anyone choose a winner? All the pictures are beautiful.
I can't seem to edit my first post but I thought I would extend this contest till Tuesday night just in case more people would like to join in but are celebrating the 4th and do not have time. Then voting from 9PM PT Tuesday night!!
CONTEST EXTENDED by 24 hours SO GET YOUR ENTRIES IN BY TUESDAY NIGHT 9PM.
Traffic has been light on the Dave's Garden site. I know where everybody is ....... They're all at the beach in San Diego this weekend. Wall to wall bodies. We leave it to the tourists on the holidays.
Happy Fourth of July everyone! Aren't we lucky to be living here! Hurray for the Red, White and Blue!
Mary
Whew...didn't think I would make the deadline. Wish the Shredded White had been pink or red...whe would have shown up more! Forground Coleus, to the right of it an EE someone sent me in a trade and it wasn't what it was supposed to be...it is better. In the BG is Costus Sanguinea with the purple undersides to the leaves and Curcuma 'Oleana'. Way in the upper right in the back you can see some "Blue Ginger"..Dichorisandra thrisifolia (I think that's the name). Really impressed by the photos of your gardens...didn't think anyone was obsessed with it as much as I am until I came here!
Well you all are so good with the combo plantings. I just love everyones beautiful brugs.
ShadowG, Your water feature is a beauty. I believe you have shared this with a member for their website? It's very striking.

I am just in awe at the different climates our gardens are in...and what a diverse plant the Brugmansia really IS!
Happy 4th! I managed to scare the wadding out of an Englishman today....anybody else?
