My DH just cut off one of my hardy Hibiscus while weed eating. There were two cuttings, I trimmed them up and put them in the bubbler. Does any one know if it will root?
If this question has been asked and answered before please forgive me, I am out working in the yard and don't have time to search.
Thanks Linda
Rooting of Hardy's
After I posted this thread I did notice that Nancyjean had posted a thread with the same question. Also that Dstartz had added that she had rooted hardys before in water.
Will that night my cuttings were wilted big time. I didn't think they were going to make it. But after a couple of days they are standing straight up and looking good. They don't have any roots on them yet but I will just leave them in the bubbler. I have two brug cutting and 2 hardy hibiscus in the same pot. The two hardys have buds on them I will be curious to see if the buds make it. All four cuttings came from broken plants. I had to see anything go to waste.

Keep us posted 2pugdogs.... I also tried a couple of cuttings - which as you said wilted badly and didn't look like they were going to make it. I almost tossed them yesterday thinking Dstartz must just have the touch and I don't..... but I didn't get around to tossing them out yet so I'll hold off. You may have saved the life of a hibiscus posting yesterday .......
Just a suggestion since I have seen this recommended everywhere I look.
Trim off those buds to allow the cutting to focus all its energies into growing roots, not blooming buds.
I know this is hard and I'm not one to cave in easily to that suggestion, but what have you got to lose. The parent plant will give you the flowers you crave. Give the baby every opportunity to thrive and survive.

:^)))
Not sure I have the touch as much as I'm too hard headed to give up trying.
The one thing I did differently with my hardies is I put them in a container to keep the humidity up. My average of rooted cuttings wasn't as good with the hardies as with tropicals, but this is only my first batch. ;->
