I'm growing Yellow Squash and it's like I'm seeing my first bloom or something, which definitely isn't the case. I have these in a raised bed and that is probably why I'm so taken by them.

They ARE pretty, aren't they? Garden fireworks. May the bees find them just as lovely...
Have you noticed a big increase in honey bees and bumble bees? Our place is covered with them this year.

I don't know about an increase as this is my first year here, but there are tons. Lining up to take a turn with these squash blossoms.
What's the deal with these blooms, only open in the early morning and late at night??? No wonder I never noticed them before.

Lots of bees this year but don't know if there are more than usual.

The blooms start to close down when they get enough sun I guess.
Ours start to close sometime in tha afternoon
We have so many pollinators about that the winter squash blooms barely last a day before they begin to close up... at least, that's what I think is happening since they're forming tiny buttercup squashes now. :)
I love squash blooms! They're beautiful AND they smell wonderful, too! : )
